Celie Johnson gives birth to a child at the age of only 14. She has been abused by her father and the child is his. When the second child comes, her father forces her to leave the child and come to live with "Mister" - a local farmer. Later, with the help of "Mister"'s lover, Celie gets united with her 2 children and her sister.
