Three women living in the are around the American frontier are driven mad by harsh pioneer life and Mary Bee Cuddy, an independent-minded woman takes responsibility of transporting them across the country by covered wagon of the pious. Mary employs a low-life drifter, George Briggs, to help her. The unlikely pair and the three woman exprience a journey full of stark beauty, psychological peril and constant threat.
